Michelle Shevin

Michelle Shevin is the Founder and Principal of the Future Preservation Society, where she advises leaders and organizations that are seeding better futures. This work follows a term at the Ford Foundation, where Michelle managed the Public Interest Technology Catalyst Fund, a five-year, $50 million field-building play that operated in partnership with other foundations and forms of capital. She is the co-creator of the National Science Foundation’s Responsible Design, Development, and Deployment of Technologies Program (ReDDDoT), the co-architect of the Public Interest Technology Infrastructure Fund, and the co-author of "AI and Democracy: Perspectives from an Emerging Field," published in 2026 by the David and Lucile Packard Foundation. Michelle earned a master’s in Security Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and a bachelor’s in Anthropology (Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology) from Barnard College, Columbia University. Passionate about collective imagination and non-default futures, Michelle previously taught strategic foresight at NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program.
